Head, Heart and Hands
Boy...........I am getting..........brain lock............thought I posted this ages ago!!!!
The fish tank is clean and the turtles are fed . The scorpion is ready to be observed and the Emu egg is labeled correctly now. The long hospital white halls are alive with color and original ideas about how we can "grow into greatness" ! Ladders have been put away and replaced with student desks, chairs and tables. Bulletin boards are full of creative activities and pictures. Bookshelves are overflowing with all kinds of interesting topics. As we worked dilligently to finish our rooms and plan for Monday, our little second grade group sat down together to go over next weeks plans. We have so much talent on this grade level that I am overwhelmed at all the resources right at my fingertips. Each and every one of my teaching partners are exhausted and excited! What lucky students they will have to be able to be a part of a classroom that is so alive!
I looked around during our planning and saw knitted brows, CHOCOLATE dumped on the table (no longer daintily reached for from the bag), snickers about computer monitors not working .....hmmmmm....maybe if we plugged them in?
I saw loving hands painfully trying to write helpful hints for her cohorts, a birthday girl who would certainly rather be outside riding her horse than sitting around yet still having the patience to sit and listen. I saw a definite change in one who is kind and loving and has bloomed and made a huge step to begin her Master's program and is doing extremely well if I may say so and I also look around and see a computer whiz! How in the world does she do all she does! Wish I had half of the computer skills and math skills she has! She is our saving grace with the all that knowledge. That leaves the baby of the group......unfortunately or fortunately, she continues to be pretty much my favorite....She is sitting to the side, flipping pages and fussin' about the amount of time it takes to do all this stuff, goes into choco-shock for a minute and comes up with some ideas that are fabulous...she is innovative, stubborn , loving , stubborn, funny....sarcastic.....but most of the time kindly...hehehe. She is the mom of two small kids and is still mostly sane! Amazing teacher and easy to love. These folks mean so much! They are wise, unselfish, funny and PATIENT with ME!
